Velero Integration

Testudo relies on Velero for the lower-level backup and restore operations.

Responsibilities​

Velero handles:

  • Backup and restore resources.
  • Provider plugins.
  • BackupStorageLocation.
  • Volume backup mechanisms supported by the environment.

Testudo adds:

  • Application-level state machines.
  • Sync history.
  • Cross-cluster role management.
  • Failover and drill orchestration.
  • API aggregation and console-friendly DTOs.

Troubleshooting​

When a sync fails, inspect both Testudo CRD status and Velero Backup or Restore status.
